Antibiotic resistance represents one of the greatest threats to global health. Although the most dramatic consequences are in the hospital setting, the World Health Organization highlights the contribution of the environment and the presence of pollutants as one of the main factors aggravating this problem. The solution therefore lies in an approach to surveillance and action aligned with the principles of the "One Health" vision. Given the complexity and prevalence of this problem, to provide holistic solutions to this problem we have organized the EAR LTC-Sarea-ENLIGHT CONGRESS “Strengthening Antibiotic Resistance Networks” to expand collaboration between different research groups from diverse areas of knowledge. By doing so we aim to contribute to solve the problem of antibiotic resistance.
In this initiative, supported by Euskampus "Incubator LTC Sarea 2022", financed by the Department of Education of the Basque Government, and the ENLIGHT Seed-funding call launched by the University of Bordeaux, researchers from Joint Research Laboratory Environmental Antibiotic Resistance (JRL-EAR) (https://www.jrl-environmental-antibiotic-resistance.eus/), Uppsala Antibiotic Center (https://www.uac.uu.se/) and University of Bordeaux (https://www.u-bordeaux.fr/en) will present their work and explore opportunities for transdisciplinary collaboration.
